Artist Statement
My painting style ranges from pure abstract to semi-abstract landscapes and figurative work. I paint large and small artwork in oils, acrylics, layered mixed media or watercolor. My choice of medium depends on the subject, the mood of the painting, the connection with that subject. Painting is a very tactile experience for me and part of the
magic is the texture and personality of different mediums.
My personal iconography has evolved from my journey around the globe, personal life experiences and visual explorations of culture, identity, nature and the human journey, my own sense of place, relationships and connectedness. People sometimes tell me they feel a tranquility or spirituality
in my paintings and
that's a wonderful compliment. I believe
art speaks to people in special ways, that's been my own experience, and I encourage everyone to interpret a particular painting in their own way.
I welcome inquiries about current paintings for sale from individuals and galleries. I'm also happy to discuss commissions and have worked on comissions with a number of clients.

Bio
I live in Saint Paul, Minnesota, between the Prairie and the Woodlands where the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers converge. Making art has been my passion since childhood and I've been preoccupied with the power and beauty of nature
for that long as well. I'm of Cornish, English and French descent and my DNA is embedded with the red earth of the Adelaide Plains of South Australia where I was born and raised on the traditional homelands of the Indigenous Kaurna people. My parents immigrated to Australia from London, England after World War II. Years later when I was a teenager we sailed around the globe from Australia to England and London was my home for twelve colorful years before coming to the United States in 1979. In the US I happened to find a path which fit my nature and began learning from traditional elders about the Lakota lifeway, lakol wicoh'an, participating in traditional ceremonies and received my Indian name. For thousands of years artists have created their work for and about the people and I feel privileged to be an artist. My intent throughout my career has been to create art that supports our efforts to be kind, respectful and gracious in the circle of life, and cradled in that intent is the knowledge that art communicates on four levels through spirit, emotion, mind and body.
Although I am self-taught I was fortunate to study on and off for a couple of years with two master artists who saw talent in my work and encouraged me to trust my creative vision. Accolades and thanks go to them and these outstanding people: my husband; my extended family of blood, spirit and friendship; the wonderful people who purchase my paintings and gallery owners who support and show my artwork - so many of you have become treasured friends.
